20/10/09- Next pool meeting at 7.30pm on Tuesday 24th Nov at the Squirrel. League to start on Wednesday 25th Nov. Please make sure a representative of your team attends. There will be a £30 bond, repayable on completion of fixtures. It will be seen that there are some new teams entering this seasons league. The Station Hotel, is largely the old Leeds Arms team, so they know the ropes. The Top Club, have all been there before and will be a real threat this season. The Milestone is at Crystal Peaks, and is a welcome addition to the league. A little out of the way for those who get a nose bleed past Todwick crossroads(it takes 12 minutes from the Squirrel), but I expect them to do a bit of damage and have a very experienced landlord/captain to lead the way. They have drawn the Squirrel A for their first match, so it'll be a trial by fire. For previous news, click on the title.
2008 Semi Finalists- Dinnington. Left to Right, Back row- Jimmy "Double it" Winsborough, Malc "The Difference" Kelwick, Ian "Fat Lad" Bradley, Terry "El Tel" Stevenson, Mark "Twenty Bellies" Lancashire, Mark "Pupski" Singleton. Front- Tony "Tourettes" Garner, Glen "The Ginger Wizard" McKay, Vince "The Badger" Ley, Russell "Four Portions" Oxley, John "Thrush" Carswell.
27/9/09- Played The Riddings team last night. We were at full stretch due to commitments, skintness and illness. The table was dogshit and our performance was the poorest of the season. Brief highlights were Singo taking out a nice dish from a dry break, Lanky winning his 2 frames and....................well, that was it really. Glen McKay man of the match, yet again goes to Lanky for being the only player to win both frames. The runner up goes to Lee Metterick, for turning out when we're short, playing hard, won one frame and was unlucky in the other. It does not bode well for this weeks upcoming trip to Yarmouth. In the 2009 EPA National Champion of Champions event, the 2008/9 winter league champions and runners up in the league and individual K/O winner and runner-up have been put forward to represent the league.
In the team event, Hatfeild Arms had a pre-event qualifier to play against Sheffields Lord Nelson team. Unfortunately, the Hatties had to give best to the Nelson, following an 8-2 loss.
On an upbeat note, the Squirrel A were put straight through to the finals and will be keen to improve last years quarter final appearance.
Glen McKay was unfortunately knocked out in the pre-event qualifier by Aggie Bailey. The score line was 5-2 and in fairness Aggie is a well known class act in the county and we wish him well.
Ben Clayton was put through his qualifier and will hopefully next be seen in the last 16 at Yarmouth.
French Grand National, Rennes, 2005 & 2006.
The only English team at the event, with Dave and Steve from Cuecraft.
